National Symposia

The Department of Gastroenterology hold regular national symposia on hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, functional gut and endoscopy. These annual or biannual meetings bring together leading experts in the field from Victoria, with invited National and International keynote speakers. The symposia take the format of keynote lectures, case base interactive panel discussions, breakout sessions and for the endoscopy symposium, live demonstrations. Panel discussions are lively, and cover topical and complex care issues, and include members from a wide range of disciplines within health care, as well as the community and consumer sector.

NATIONAL HEPATITIS SYMPOSIUM

This year with be the 28th National Hepatitis Symposium. Due to the uncertainty caused by the COVD-19 pandemic, the 28th National Hepatitis Symposium for 2021 will be held as a 6 part webinar series and covers topical areas in viral hepatitis C, viral hepatitis B, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma and portal hypertension.

INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE SYMPOSIUM

We are currently in the planning stages for the 17th National IBD Symposium, to be held in 2022. More information to follow.

FUNCTIONAL GUT DISCORDERS SYMPOSIUM

We are currently in the planning stages for the the inaugural Functional Gut Disorders Symposium, to be held in 2020-2021. More information to follow.

ADVANCED ENDOSCOPY SYMPOSIUM

We are currently in the planning stages for an advanced endoscopy symposium to be held concurrently with the 17th National IBD Symposium, highlighting the principles and challenges in the endoscopic management of Inflammatory bowel disease. More information to follow.
