Assoc. Professor Emily Wright is a gastroenterologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Head of The Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) Unit. She is a principal research (NHMRC) fellow at The University of Melbourne. Emily completed her PhD in the clinical and scientific predictors of post-operative Crohn’s disease in 2015 for which she was awarded the University of Melbourne Dean’s Award for Excellence. Emily is an active clinical researcher with interests including the assessment of IBD using intestinal ultrasound, the management of IBD complications, the management of IBD during pregnancy. Emily has an interest in dietary treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and microbial manipulation (including faecal transplantation) for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. Emily has published widely in national and international peer-reviewed journals and is a supervisor for PhD candidates in clinical and translational gastroenterology.
At St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Emily coordinates the inflammatory bowel disease service and performs intestinal ultrasound and endoscopy.
Emily also works in private practice in Melbourne where she sees patients with inflammatory bowel disease and functional and general gastroenterology disorders.
